Tenement Talks Presents: “Ladies of the Lower East Side”

A Reading and Discussion with Reverend Jen, Michelle Carlo and Rachel Shukert.

February 9th, 6:30PM at the Tenement Museum Store (103 Orchard Street, take the ‘F’ to Delancey.)

Free! RSVP to events@tenement.org

Art Star, performer, elf-eared Troll Museum curator, open mike host, author of the memoirs Elf Girl and Live Nude Elf and one of New York City’s last remaining eccentrics, Reverend Jen, hosts a lively discussion and reading with authors Rachel Shukert (Everything is Going to be Great) and Michelle Carlo: (Fish Out of Agua: My Life on Neither Side Of The (subway) Tracks.) The three writers began their careers in the downtown performance art scene and have emerged as critically acclaimed memoirists. Their work has variously appeared in McSweeneys, Gawker, Penthouse, Nerve, Artnet, the Daily Beast, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood and Slate. They will read from their (hilarious and heartfelt) memoirs and discuss how the Lower East Side has inspired and influenced their careers.
